2017 Movies: Long Strange Trip – Trailer Song (Amazon Prime)
Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer for the documentary Long Strange Trip, described as the “inspiring, complicated, downright messy tale of the Grateful Dead”.
The four-hour film, directed by Amir Bar-Lev and executive-produced by Martin Scorsese, presents, in a mix of new clips with vintage footage, some never-seen videos and behind-the-scenes, the childhood of Jerry Garcia, his Frankenstein obsession, the band’s unlikely coalescing, psychedelic experiments and rustic retreats, the tragic death of co-founder Ron “Pigpen” McKernan in 1973, the tape-trading phenomenon, the band’s commercial peak and how the unanticipated popularity affected them, and Garcia’s decline.
The song used in the trailer is the 1978 title track “Shakedown Street” on the band’s album of the same name, composed by guitarist Jerry Garcia.
The documentary opens in theaters Friday and comes to Amazon Prime Video June 2.
