2017 Movies: The Greatest Showman (Trailer Song)
Hugh Jackman is The Greatest Showman in the upcoming biographical musical drama film about the founder of the circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
The X-Men star portrays the American showman P.T. Barnum and Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson, Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Keala Settle co-star. Written by Jenny Bicks, and Bill Condon and directed by Michael Gracey, the film celebrates the the birth of show business and tells thestory of P.T. Barnum, a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
The trailer, set to the rhythms of an original song performed by Keala Settle, starts with Jackman being fired from his job and beginning to assemble a circus crew, in his attempt to create a better life for his wife and two daughters. The trailer features lots of circus acts and scenes including statements made by Jackman’s character, who invents show business. In one of the them, Zac Efron’s character tells him that he can’t just run off and join the circus and Jackman’s answers that he clearly has a “flair for show business”. When Efron replies that he has never heard of show business, Jackman smiles and says “Because I just invented it”. “No one ever made a difference by being life everyone else” – he also says in a scene at the end of the trailer.
The Greatest Showman, featuring original songs by the Academy Award-winning lyricists of La La Land and Dear Evan Hanson Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, is scheduled to be released in theaters this winter, on December 25.
